Reflective Commentary: Twine Story (or informative discussion)

Reflective Commentary- Sustainable Style Guide

Twine can be used in multiple ways to convey multiple messages. Foremost, the website can be used to create games with different playable pathways for users; examples of this include the ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ games. As well as this, Twine can be used to convey topical information in digestible amounts. Regardless of the purpose, Twine serves as an engaging way to interact with users. For my Twine story, I wanted to highlight the importance of extending the life of the clothes you already own to avoid overconsumption of fashion. I tried to make my story accessible by using 3 ‘typical’ items of clothing that people already own, as well as categorising outfits using these items under common activities. A major creative decision of mine was to include examples of influencers that are fashion forward and often advocated for sustainable fashion. I believe that adding this link to a more visual element (Instagram pages) would engage may audience and act as a ‘call to action’. However, describing outfit ideas became a challenge to me as it required detailed, almost persuasive writing which again had to also be engaging and digestible.  A skill that rose from this was cohesion and organisation as I wanted to avoid repeating words/phrases to keep my audience’s attention. To improve on this task, I would’ve liked to expand my Twine story so it was accessible to all genders and included more item options. Despite this, I feel that I kept the main item options as unisex as possible, yet I would’ve like to expand into both masculine and feminine fashion further. Overall, I have received praise for my twine story, however it has been said that it was quite text heavy and could’ve been broken down into more pathways.
